Produced by Curious 20s

Language: Marathi
From: Bombay
Duration: 75 minutes

Synopsis
God=Father explores the rejection of the supernatural by a young boy. Perpetually compared to his father, a young boy decides to take his friends on a journey into his past to highlight the parental and religious pressures that have hounded him through his life. Will he find moral comfort in the tangible humanity of his father, or the spiritual supremacy of god?

Director’s Note
God=Father, my first step towards writing & direction, began with complexities & confusion and, now that it has reached its first stage, it all seems magical and a bit scary too. We all are excited about performing and exploring ourselves & new avenues of theatre. Expectations are mounting and we are ready to shoulder them with complete zeal….waiting to perform the newest but the harshest equation to deal with - God=Father!

Written By Israel Horovitz
Directed By Neel Sengupta, Gautam Arora
Produced By The Players

Language: Hindi & English
From: Delhi
Duration: 60 minutes

Synopsis
The struggle to the top is more than familiar. Is the ‘top’ real? Does the struggle end? What are you willing to do to get to the front? Five people queue up in a line: waiting for what or who is never made clear. Nevertheless, each of them is determined to get to the front. Using all kinds of stratagem to get ahead – some honest, some plain clever and some rather dubious – this static race to the top becomes a bleak metaphor of the times in which we live and the games we play with others and ourselves as we totter on the brink of chaos.

Director’s Note
Our adaptation is designed to anchor Israel Horovitz’s parable-like narrative through a resonance of environments both local and familiar, without losing his commitment to weaving a general fable that is true of all time. And yes, in all this, we have sought to stay true to the fast-paced comic energy of the original.

BEING SARTAK MAJUMDAR

BOOK YOUR TICKETS NOW

Written By Karan.B.Shetty

Directed By Karan.B.Shetty
Produced By The Mannequins Bangalore

Language: English

From: Bombay
Duration: 75 minutes

Synopsis
Meet Sartak Majumdar, as he battles with the voices in his head, his stern belief that he is the lead in a show, and childhood memories of family and televisions. Who is he? And why does he keep finding himself having to eat pills?

Director’s Note
The play ‘Being Sartak Majumdar’ was initially a 5-minute monologue, which then became a 20-minute skit for a platform performance and later found itself onstage as a full-length play. The countless inspirations and hassles encountered, while we ourselves were trying to figure out Sartak’s dilemma, can be credited for the play. We hope you enjoy watching the play as much as we enjoyed making it.

APRADHI SUGANDH

BOOK YOUR TICKETS NOW

Written By Kiran Yadnyopavit

Directed By Nipun Dharmadhikari
Produced By Natak Company

Language: Marathi

From: Pune
Duration: 1 hour, 30 minutes

Synopsis
Relying on dark humour, the two narrators of 'Apradhi Sugandh', Aaburao and Baburao, explore the meaning of truth through a convoluted series of events in Pune.

Director’s Note
Watching a movie like 'Rang De Basanti' or 'A Wednesday' inspires us as an audience. We enjoy watching the scene in 'Singham' where a Minister's butt is kicked...literally! Why do we enjoy such far-fetched concepts? I feel it is because it is everyone's fantasy to do that to politicians and terrorists - shoot them dead, blow them up, kick them! It is common knowledge that corruption is now an inherent part of our system – so much so that the various scams seem to be mere numbers for us - 68 lakh, 300 crores, 2 lakh crores....but can the value of corrupted truth / information be estimated? Who can we really trust today?

Directed By Abhijeet Ramkrishna Dhere
Produced By Samanvay

His duty as an educator, or his status in society? The choice is not an easy one for the protagonist, a schoolteacher. Naav deals, more than anything, with a sense of identity. Does a name determine your rights? Does society dictate the morality of your decisions? Naav speaks of it all.

Director’s Note
This play has been inspired from the poem, “Tumchach Naav Liwa”, by the well known poet, Late Mr. Narayan Surve. The characters, events and plot have been created by the writer himself with only the theme of the play being similar to the poem.
